Shopping List

1. On first launch, choose Offline to keep lists on your iPhone, or Online to sign in with Apple and use Shopping List Cloud.
2. Type into the Add… field, or tap the camera button to scan a product’s barcode.
3. Items are sorted into colour-coded categories with an icon. Tap an item when it is in your basket.
4. On the Shopping tab, start a shop for one or more lists and a store; purchases can be undone and are kept in your history.

Lists in Shopping List Cloud belong to a household. To invite someone, open the web app, sign in with Apple, and, as an owner of the household, create an invitation link under Settings → Members. The link works once and for seven days. Everyone in the household sees the same lists in the app and in the browser.

Shopping List has an MCP server at https://shopping-list.tueftli.com/mcp. Add it as a connector in Claude or another assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol. The assistant opens a sign-in and consent page where you choose the household it may use. Assistants without this sign-in, such as Claude Code, use an API token you create in the web app under Settings → API Tokens.

The assistant can list your lists and items, add, edit, check off and remove items, and create or rename lists. You can disconnect it at any time under Settings → Connected Apps.

Online, the server chooses a category and an icon for every new item. If no icon fits, it draws a new one in the same style; this can take a minute, and the icon then appears on its own. Icons are downloaded once and kept on your iPhone.

Under Settings, you can also connect Bring, a Mealie server or your own Shopping List Server, in offline and online mode. Each list on your iPhone is linked to at most one of them. Pull down on a list to sync it.

• Changes from others don’t appear: pull down on the list to refresh it, and check that you are online in Settings.
• The scanner shows a black screen: allow camera access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera.
• An item has no icon yet: new icons can take a minute; refresh the list later.
• An assistant can’t reach your lists: remove the connector, add it again and approve access for the right household.

Signing out switches back to offline and keeps copies of your lists on your iPhone. Settings → Shopping List Cloud → Delete Account permanently deletes your account and the lists only you can see. See the privacy policy for what is stored.
